The Cameby Downs mine is located in southeast Queensland, Australia, approximately 360km northwest of Brisbane, and is connected to the Port of Brisbane by the South-West rail corridor.

The two-year agreement will see Aurizon haul up to 1.7Mt/y of coal from February 1, and includes the option of an additional two year extension.

It replaces an existing 1.4Mt/y agreement between Aurizon and Syntech Resources for Cameby Downs that commenced in 2011 and will expire at the end of January 2016.

Mauro Neves, EVP commercial & marketing at Aurizon, said that the agreement demonstrated Aurizon’s commitment to working with customers to contribute to the competitiveness of their operations in the current challenging environment.

He added: “We have worked closely with Syntech Resources to deliver an agreement that provides operational flexibility and the opportunity to share in productivity enhancements and improvements in market conditions.”
